I just got back on the 12th. The only mosquitoes that we saw were at West Chickenbone. No black flies.

Is it true that ceramic filters do not filter out tapeworm egss but paper filters will? The outdoor company in town is telling people that and I was wondering if that was true since Im coming there in September.

If money isnt a bit issue taking a water taxi out to Chipawa Harbor or McCargoe Cove and hiking back to Rock Harbor could be fun trips.

Yeah I thought about that. I might change it to W. Chickenbone lake to Todd Harbor and then Todd Harbor to McCargo Cove.

Im an exprerienced backpacker taking 2 first timers (and another)on their first trip. They are all fit women but all are over 45. The other one is 65 but has been on several hikes in the Smokeys and shouldnt have much trouble.
