2 of the plans would eliminate the section of the Indian portage trail between the lake Richie trail and the lake Richie portage, meaning Chippewa harbor would become another water access site only :shock:


I sure hope they don't eliminate that short section of the Indian Portage Trail. About 50 ...

With such a short visit, there is not much room to vary your itinerary away from a direct end-to-end hike. If your legs feel strong on the first day, you could make it to Lake Desor South. It is a great campground with a nice swimming beach. Moskey Basin campground is not to be missed, but it can ...

I did the Ishpeming Trail in Sept. 2023. The beaver dam appears to be abandoned. It is not holding back any water due due to deterioration and breaches. The path through the washout area was very easy to navigate.

Another interesting note on the map that I also remember from my 1972 trip, the Rock Harbor Trail from Daisy Farm to Moskey Basin was situated at the shoreline.

2. What is the long berm that the Feldtmann trail follows? For about a mile near Feldtmann Lake campground, before climbing the ridge, the trail follows a long, straight berm that rises 4 or 5 feet above the surrounding swamp. This ends within half a mile of the campground. It's remarkably ...
