HI John,
How can I get a copy of this picture. I find it to be very interesting to see this happening with the glimmer of hope for species survival due to mother nature.

Re: Planning our first visit
Hi Again, the tent issue should be taken seriously, on the island it is not like the mainland. Bad weather pops up out of nowhere all the time. I know your not supposed to put tents in shelters but sometimes it is a matter of possible hyperthermia. We carry a 8x8 lightweight blue tarp and carry a fe...

Re: Planning our first visit
Hello and welcome! May I suggest a great itinerary for you to think about. First I agree that you will need warm sleeping bags. The weather is very unpredictable, you can't put it on if you don't have it, and once your cold its hard to warm up. So My idea of a great first trip: rock harbor to Daisy ...

Re: Why so many return trips?
May I suggest you make the choice, and just make it a point to go. There really isnt that much to it. You dont need to spend tons on equipment, if you take some time here in the forums you will realize that a trip there can be done very reasonable. I have used the same jet boil for years, same tent ...

Re: Why so many return trips?
Why so many times back... I have been to the island 7 times. I will continue to get there with every chance I get and I try to bring someone new to experience what it is all about. The island will talk to you. It pulls you into its remoteness and beauty. We have spent trips staying in one spot inste...

Re: Hat & Camera Question
hat: baseball style with a bandana back up, on hot and sunny days use a cool wet bandana hanging off the back of your hat to protect your neck and keep you cool, baseball hat helps with a head net like everyone has said and a bandana works at anytime for everything! camera: I have gone to just a sma...

Re: Compact, lightweight stove suggestion
Hi John I boil the 2 cups that a jet boil will hold. According to REI, the jet boil brand fuel is 4 season canisters and they assured me it should make no difference the temperature outside. (unless its freezing of course) When I asked them if I was corerct on boils I get they said that is the norma...

Re: Compact, lightweight stove suggestion
Hello I was reading your post and I can tell you in 40-50 degree weather on Isle Royale, I can get 26 boils plus on a single new small fuel can with the Jet boil. We take 3 people and there is alot of coffee and hot chocolate, and ususally 3 dehydrated meals a day. Once I use it on a trip it gets ta...
