Re: Trails and Campsites
Give us some info on your group and what kind of trip you have in mind. There's a lot of ways to go on IR.

Re: Water Chemical Treatment
I use a Sawyer gravity filter and carry a handful of Micropur tabs as a backup should the filter fail.

Good point. Thx!NancyT wrote:Jess,
Keep in mind getting in and out of the campgrounds on the Greenstone, the aren't the easiest to do. The Feldtmann loop was my very first trip and I'm pretty sure Mike picked that route for that reason.

Re: TR: 6/2-6/5, 2012 [Feldtmann Loop counter-clockwise]
Feldtmann is next on my "list" but I have a question; my best friend has an ankle that has titanium pins and all that goodness from breaking it badly a few years ago, so he pretty much will only do easier hikes. I have been trying to talk him into doing the Greenstone with me. How would yo...

Re: New guy with some questions
I have been to the island on the first boat and the second to last boat. What I've learned is that there's never a bad time to be on IR, but I think my optimal time would the latest possible boat I could take that would have me finishing my hike at either Windigo or RH when the showers are still open.

Re: Stove and fuel choices
My kitchen is pretty simple since I'm just a water boiler. I make coffee and oatmeal in the mornings, and Mountain House Pro-Paks for dinner. I don't heat anything for lunches. There is still a little fuel left in the 4 ounce canister I took on my trip to IR 5/5 through 5/10. The coldest trip I've t...
