Leukotape is another preferred tool in the medic tent. That was part of great info I found searching around ultra marathon (50mile) trail race pages.

Blisters
Wanted to share something I've adopted on the topic of blisters.
Tincture of Benzoin
Last year I ran the Mt Bohemia 10k trail race. In additiin to several other races that fall, I primarily trained on the trails, up and down hills in wet conditions. Had one feisty callous type blister that would not ...

Re: What interior lakes would you take in a packraft to fish on?
I think a packraft is a great idea for interior lakes! They are super lightweight and compact to portage/hike with. Not as speedy as a canoe or small yak, but more efficient than a float tube. Just as good to fish from too.

Your research lends an possible answer to a question I came across in the "Ecological Survey of Isle Royale, Lake Superior-1908" which was a reference to the Haytown trail from Siskowit Bay to Siskowit Lake. (page 40 of 53). The author was referencing red squirrel presence along ...

Re: Old river name
Ok that could be. It might not be isle royale at all, and the black river does have numerous falls.
Taking a step back, I had checked the place names of isle royale book and it states the little siskiwit river was also called the sibley river, but its seems to me if it was referring to the outlet ...

Re: Dry bag size and contents
Two changes of clothes should fit easily in a 15L bag, as should 4+ MHs in another one. 15-20L is a good, versatile size. large enough to accomodate heavy packing yet if the load is lighter, just put a few more rolls on it before you close it off. My largest is a 25L and it is 9" dia and 28" long ...

Re: New Park Regulations for Food Storage
One time I caught a red squirrel chewing into a heavy dry bag which was sealed up n sitting on a table at belle isle. I don't know if it was actually the smell of food or just something that looked like it could carry food that enticed it..
