3 or 4 night trip suggestions

greetings. I am trying to plan my second trip to Isle Royale. Last time we were there my son (he was 6) and I got dropped off at McCargo Cove and hiked to Chippewa Harbor. I am trying to plan a 3 or 4 night trip for him, my wife and myself this summer. Likely to be 3 nights. I realize longer would ...

Looking for ideas

We will likely be making a short trip in August to Isle Royale. Out on Saturday and back in on Tuesday. Not long enough, but that's the way this summer works out.

My son is 9. Last time we went he was 6. We went from McCargo Cove to Chippwa harbor and had a good time. He says he's ready to do a ...

Thanks. Will there be any water issues along this route? I have a filter of course.

Re: McCargoe Cover to Chippewa Harbor

Thank you for the info.

I haven't looked into fishing yet. Overall, what should I be prepared for to fish?

McCargoe Cover to Chippewa Harbor

Greetings,

I am planning a summer backpacking trip with my son to Isle Royale. He will be six at the time of our trip, so I’ll be carrying most of the load. Some time back, I talked with a person familiar with the Island, and he suggested a route from McCargoe Cove to Chippewa Harbor. This route ...

Re: Private Boat to Island -

I would like to be able to use the boat on Superior, and on bigger Inland waters as well (Lake Pepin). In an effort to keep it trailerable behind a 1/2 ton class vehicle, I was thinking of staying at 20' or under. Ideally, it will be both a family and a fishing boat. Because of the length limit, I ...

Re: Private Boat to Island -

I've just started looking, but the Ranger Reatta 1850 and Grady White 192 tournament are under consideration. Don't know if these will handle the conditions or not. I am considering the Apostle's as well, but figured if the boat will handle Isle Royale, then the Apostles would be possible also ...

Private Boat to Island -

I've just started doing some research into doing a private boat trip out to the island for fishing, camping, sight seeing.

What do you consider the minimums for making the trip out from Grand Portage? I am currently looking at a few different boats, and want to be able to do this trip in the ...
