Re: Boating Question (Bass Boating to the Island)

There are several areas on the island where a chart plotter is not accurate, North Gap for example.

Re: Fly into Windigo and hike to Desor South the same day?

Last year we went to N Desor leaving Windigo at 10:50 am via the Minong .... So yes it's doable. We had a tough day though finishing at 8:10 PM.

Re: Bugs

After 25 or so visits, June is my favorite time!
You will have mosquitoes in some low areas during the day but not many. Most if not all places will have them at sunset for a half our or so.... Plenty tolerable.
Enjoy

1) Superlight: Everclear & Crystal Lite 2) My choice: Irish Whiskey, preferably Tullamore Dew. 3) For masochists: Beer or wine. Thanks for the suggestions, Don. I like your choice best. Never tried the Tullamore--may have to give it a try! BTW, I've been that masochist who hauled wine on a short ...

Aside from carins there are also several faded orange blazes on bare rock offering reassurance you are on the right track.

Re: [OFFICIAL] 2015 bug report

Got home today from a six day trip from Windigo to RH via the Minong, Moskey, Ojibway tower and Mt. Franklin.
Mosquitoes are in full bloom! I didn't really get bothered by flies but saw many.

Thanks!

Re: Lake Superior Ice Cover Map 2015

You have to wait for a clear day to get a good look but these satellite images are a great way to see what is actually currently out there. The latest images appear to show a decent possibility of an ice bridge this season.
