Re: Food ideas needed

www.Cachelake.com has some great fying pan breads and other items. I used some of these on my trip. The sweet potato corn bread is awesome. A small frying pan/mess kit is all you need and a flame.

So funny you say on tuesday you were at Hatchett lake and had a tree fall on your site. I was there May 31 also, Individual site #2 and had a three stand of Poplar trees fall 6 feet from my tent. Trees fell around 10 pm. Talk about a light nights sleep. http://img1.imagehousing.com/47 ...

I believe she needs Isobutane canister, like for a Jetboil or MSR stove.

Re: Need last minute ideas for uncooked meals

I too am arriving by SeaPlane on May 30th, but Im flying into Rock Harbor and am getting a fuel canister there. Why dont you just change direction and go East to west instead. Primus canisters are in stock at Rock Harbor right now. Im sure the plane has some flexibility for drop off and pickup ...

Re: Seaplane Logistics

Actually just got a reply from RoyaleAirService concerning taking isobutane containers on the trip to Isle Royale. They are indeed prohibited, all fuels are, from the flight. But that canister and various sizes is readily available at the Rock Harbor store I was told. Not sure about the Windigo side.

Re: Favorite Freeze Dried Flavor

I have to agree that beef stroganoff is one of the better mountain house meals. Chili Mac and mexican rice with beef also. As for cache lake fry breads, I have bought them and tried at home but never field tested yet. Very good, sticky as batter and can burn when using a Jetboil burner and a pan, so ...

Re: First IR visit, planning on doing the Greenstone Ridge T

MetalMan, I too am planning a beginning season trip with friends to IR end of May, June. I have researched the schedules closely, and found that depending on when you get to IR, is when you can possibly find a trip on the Voyageur II to go around the island. Unfortunately for me, I am arriving on ...

I have always used my ETREX Legend for Hiking. You get good signal except under dense tree canopies. It works great, and carry it as a luxury item. I have never needed it, but like having it around to check locations at rest stops,(for distances).
