From when you checked and when I looked, the creek is on the rise, slightly.
Notice that the pull-down for WC doesn't show a level for "Flood stage", whereas, most of the other pull-downs have that statistic.

Re: Parking in MN
Yes cmb...1, Midwest Ed is correct; it is the second to last paragraph from Jims' - Afterword, "The Last Portage", in his above mentioned trail guide. And as Midwest Ed points out, preferably purchased through the IRKPA. This passage was not in his initial edition of the guide, but has been the ...

Re: McCargoe Cove -> Rock Harbor - Route Suggestions?
You'll be able to say you scrambled over the backbone of Isle Royale, several times! Your first day will be a scramble, up and over, your second day will be a scramble, up and back, your third day will be a scramble, up and over, and your final day will be a scramble, up and over. Enjoy ...

Nice report.
The birds that "aren't quite ducks" may have been mergansers?
Lookout Louise is one view you should return to visit; you might as well start your planning now!

I agree with Keweenaw; I have taken the RH to Threemile once, to say I hiked it, now days I always take the Tobin Harbor Trail to and from Threemile.

Re: Berries
Perhaps some early blueberries, along the ridges leading up to Ojibway Tower, from Daisy Farm. If you happen to be in that area.

Re: Tent or Hammock?
Rangers claim camps are set-up for tents for a reason; my impression, as I wandered the Isle, was that it is a place that has limited hammock hanging possibilities.
YMMV. I would/will be using a tent, hiking or paddling the park.

Spend a day in RH prior to leaving for CH; hike the Stoll trail or go to Suzy's Cave.

Re: How to hang a tarp in a shelter
Looks good to me.
Simple, efficient, light weight, and relatively inexpensive.
Now to get to that shelter at Todd Harbor!

Re: Why you should use liquid fuel
There are a couple things they made no mention of: 1) No mention of long distant hiking tests. 2) You "can" recycle the used up canisters.(OOPS!- They did mention recycle MSR canister) 3) How many people have suffered accidental burns, due to spilled fuel from a canister?(Possibly some one has ...

The inland lakes route would be the most reliable.(Siskiwit, Intermediate, Richie, Moskey Basin, RH)
