Re: Hammocks Inside of Shelters

A couple of sturdy c-clamps should work....put something soft on the floor below you the first time :-) You might want to try this in the garage first. The amount of pressure required to secure against a lateral pull on a C-clamp of that magnitude will probably be enough to damage the wood. A ...

Re: Sleeping bag decision

I would think at least mid weight long jons are needed. A rain jacket draped over the outside of your bag, will help with heat loss.

I always set tent in a shelter when needed; at least use the tent as a tarp on the screen/front inside wall of the shelter.

Re: Sleeping bag decision

Take the Hydrogen. All your clothes plus the bag ought to get you to freezing. It's all a crap shoot. Also take a emergency blanket, as a supplement, should you need to. You decide, you have to live with the decision. I'm betting next week will be warm enough. No polar vortex on the horizon yet ...

Re: Ferry to Isle in late September

I think the Huginnin loop would be best in the counter clockwise direction. Nothing like coming into camp after the walk along the roughed coastline. Coming back to Washington creek, the views, in my opinion, are much better enjoyed walking towards them, instead of away from them. It's all good ...

Re: Advice on overnight trip 8/5

Welcome to the forum bds1217, The simplest would be to get off the Voyager II at Windigo, take a shelter at Washington Creek, day hike Hugginin Cove Loop(maybe have lunch there), camp Washington Creek overnight. In the morning explore the Windigo area, range station exhibits, rent a canoe ...

MikeT, Very interesting and intriguing. 8) Now I want to make that trip :!: Wait till tree rattt sees this post. One most likely, could continue on, after leaving Malone Bay area, and head to the Siskiwit Bay/Island mine trail, keeping closer to the south shore, using/passing Hay Bay camp. In ...

Go to the web site https://pay.gov/public/form/start/67093923

They take cards online, no reason to think they won't take them on Isle.

Re: Portaging from Tobin to 3 Mile

Ty,

My 17" aluminum canoe, is similar/same as the rental canoes in RH; it weighs 75 lbs.

I would think the rentals should be close to that, on average.
