I took a trip a month ago where myself and my two companions had hammocks. We used tree straps.

We found that not all sites were good for hammocks, though for us the group sites were the best.

Technically it's up to each park to allow hammocks or not, but I work for the NPS and I know a lot of ...

1. Those aren't rasberries; they are thimbleberries. I am sure you came across rasberries too, but there are fewer of them on the island.

The stretch from Feldtmann to Siskiwit feels longer than it is because of the lack of a water source. Also, I feel in a normal year the stretch from the tower to Siskiwit would be heavy with skeeters, due to its swampiness, but I just got lucky this year.

just keep the lake on your right going and the lake on your left coming back. I find if you just remember markers it's easy enough.

Has anyone ever bushwhacked from the Island Mine Trail over to Hay Bay to spend a night there? I haven't seen it listed anywhere that it's not allowed, but I also haven't read that it is allowed for non-boaters to camp there for a night.

The itinerary I had made out for my group this year has us swinging up to S Desor for a night, but I'm rethinking that after all the bad reviews of it. I think I'll have us swing west instead and land back in Windigo before doing the Huginnin Cove Loop the next day.
