I was there 1st week in September. Caught pike off the dock at Chippewa Harbor and McCargoe Cove. And from shore at Lake Ritchie.

It limits how much water you can cover, but it's doable.

I think that’s pretty much about the only thing that’s holding wolves back from aggression. They’re still intimidated because we don’t act like prey.

But should one of them make that jump and turn to aggressive pursuit, we humans are going to run.

They’re apex predators. Top of the chain. Absolutely they look at anything that moves as prey. It’s how they’re wired. Certainly, they treat humans with wariness. We arrive in numbers, make noise, travel on boats, build structures ...

Well…the moose on the Island don’t fear humans, likely because they’ve never been hunted or harassed there. And they aren’t predators, so they wouldn’t be interested in us anyway.

As apex predators, wolves look at anything that moves as a possible meal. Wolves have been wary of us in the past ...

It’s probably only a matter of time before we start having to treat the wolves as we would black bears. And it wouldn’t surprise me to at some point hear of a wolf attack on a child.

Moskey to Ritchie is a tough trail....rocks, roots, stumps, up and overs.....

I tweaked my already gimpy left ankle 3 times on that stretch, after successfully avoiding doing so on the Rock Harbor to Daisy Farm segment....which is no slouch either.

I dunno about the canoe thing tho. I own a fiberglass Sawyer for inland lake use (too heavy for IR). As I watched those canoeists going back and forth on the portages, I don't know if I'd find it as worth it as some would. It's certainly ...

Spotted that bull...and a cow...together. Watched 'em from 60-70 feet away for over a half hour. Lots of pix & video.

Then :45 further down the Greenstone, spotted a cow and a calf!
