Does anyone have a link to a sunrise, sunset chart for Isle Royale? I am trying to figure how many hours of daylight for the second half of September..
I sure wish I was up there now for the northern lights. I have seen them several times from the UP and they can be awesome. Thanks Much, Richard

Re: Your favorite ISRO meals
I'm drooling myself, and thinking, "Damn!" we're going to be only on the Greenstone this year. It's a little further along in this pic. http://moskeybasin.com/Isle_Royale/IR_Pics_2009.html#78 The kind folk had given us some sort of seasoning, and we used a little of that, since we had not...

Re: Souris River Canoe
A 17' canoe on a 26' sailboat sounds like alot to me. What I will do is hang the canoe from the safty line stantions. I have seen this done and it works great. The only drawback is that it limits my heel to apx 35 degrees. So it will limit the speed on long reaches. I can run a line through the blo...

Re: Souris River Canoe
I too am thinking about the 17 foot Souris River canoe. However since I will be using my 26 foot sailboat to carry it is the extra money I will have to spend for the light weight worth it. I am thinking about getting one of the rental clearence models this September. Or would I be better off just sh...

Re: Using Quotes in messages
Thanks again. What I was doing was highlighting what I wanted to copy then I was hitting the Quote buton in the top righthand corner of the message. This would copy the entire post and I could not figure out why it did that instead of what I highlighted. Richard

Using Quotes in messages
How do you Quote only part of a post? When I try to highlight a part of a message it still copies the whole post. It is probley simple dimple, but sometime computers don't like me. Richard

Re: Your favorite ISRO meals
If you want to have a little fun with your fellow campground mates, wait until you are at a semi-busy campground, then break out your bottle of wine, glass crystal, candelabra and candles and a red and white checkered table cloth. . .along with your favorite special meal. I'm going too late this yea...

Your favorite ISRO meals
I am planning a 3 week trip to the island this September. :D As I am taking my sailboat I can take more real food but I still like to stick to simple camping type meals for my camping trips. That said I still want better than the everyday dried meals. That said as I am reviewing my menu I thought I ...

Re: Gales of September
As John says about the weather, pay close attention. I would add to this a list of both requirements and precautions for your review: 1) VHF marine radio 2) Weather radio 3) EPIRB or PPIRB 4) Dry survival exposure suits for emergency use. 5) Have a thorough vessel examination by Coast Guard Auxilia...

Re: Using a sailboat as basecamp
I also want to visit as many of the old costal mining sites and the old Fish camps as possible. Researching this database may come in handy. http://www.hscl.cr.nps.gov/insidenps/summary.asp WOW Why don't I find links like this when I surf Isle Royal history? I just keep getting links to the same ol...
