If you'd like to see a different perspective of our trip, check out my friend's YouTube video. Dane (featheredprop) has a lot of good content and a creative flair with his backpacking videos.

Re: TR 5/24/23 - 5/28/23 Feldtmann Loop

Thanks for the great video trip report! But no moose?!? Or just didn't make the video? They were all over the place when I was at Feldtmann the same time of year. No. Unfortunately, not a single moose for us during the entire trip! The bummer was that after we returned I read dcclark's TR and ...

Re: TR 5/24/23 - 5/28/23 Feldtmann Loop

Nice video! It was great to meet you guys, and I think of that visit around the Siskiwit fire ring as a highlight of our trip too. Also, I've never seen anybody make a fire as fast as you three! It was like watching a dedicated fire-starting team. I guess the cold and wind helped make that happen ...

Can't remember where I read it, but it said twig stoves were ok to use.

You've almost convinced me to spend a week at Huginnin Cove this fall.
Huginnin Cove is amazing.

Nice report! It was fun to see you guys at so many familiar places along your route. Thank you! It was nice seeing you along the trail, as well. Meeting and having conversations with fellow backpackers has always been one of the things that makes trips enjoyable! Sent from my SM-G781V using ...

Fines AND restitution. That's gonna be fun to pay back. Should've paid attention to the rules and obeyed them.

Re: TR 5/24/23 - 5/28/23 Feldtmann Loop

Looking forward to it. I noticed side trips to Rainbow Cove, the Island Mine powderhouse, and maybe Island Mine itself! Winner, winner! Yes... Rainbow Cove to kill two birds with one stone (save time the next morning and to get a break from the cold and strong, incessant wind), the powderhouse on ...

Re: Aurora Borealis

I agree. I couldn't see anything in my backyard, especially with all of the light pollution. But a several-second photo with my phone got me a few pics, but nothing stellar. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240512/f54203f7e1c81df906110bd73b39bac5.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240512 ...

TR 5/24/23 - 5/28/23 Feldtmann Loop

I had really hoped to post my trip report here last year. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the time or the inspiration to write because I was thrown an unexpected curveball last June that consumed my entire summer and lasted into this year. So, I will forego the written post and leave you with the ...

Re: Big news for grand portage outbound ferries...

Any pictures of the new dock? I searched for an update on progress and didn't find anything since the Nov. groundbreaking, where they say Sept for completion. Would also love to see some progress pics. The only thing I could find is an article and a conceptual image. https://wtip.org/grand-portage ...

Re: Campsite Name & Access

I have stayed at Lane Cove twice. Both times, there still were several open sites when we were packing up in the morning. I guess I must have stayed there before it became wildly popular. I enjoy talking with fellow backpackers, but there also is something nice about staying in a very quiet ...

Re: favorite trail and campsite

There are so many trails that, for one reason or another, are nice trails. The same goes for campsites. But, if you force me to distill them all down to only one of each, my picks would be:
Trail - Feldtmann Loop
Campsite - Huginnin Cove
