Re: Trip possibilities, input welcome...
Doing the Windigo to N. Lake Desor hike is hardest day from one campground to another( without skipping over several campgrounds in between. Like Tom said " go with the Feldtman Lake loop. It's a mile and hour trail on the Minong Trail there and I look at it as the day planned later in the trip when ...

Re: Bushwacking From Lookout Louise to Blake Point
There are many options when going off trail. While none of it's easy you never know what you'll see. It requires a good topo map and at times a compass and long pants and shirt and a plan of where you're headed well scoped out ahead of time. Easiest without a pack but I usually go with pack. Try ...

Re: New Park Regulations for Food Storage
I'll be trying a Ursack. Great idea. I don't like the thought of coming into a campground area and see multiple trees mangled from overweigh food bags. While I liked the bearpoles in the Porcupine Mountains and the bear-lockers along Pictured Rocks I think we need to consider the earlier idea of it ...

Re: "Sequester" impact for Isle Royale
Yes. On the Boat/Dock party issue. The issues were years ago. I happened following a cut back of rangers. It was at Siskiwit Bay and I encountered it several times. It was just a comment in passing. Meaning nothing today I would hope. I have stayed in every water access campground except for Merritt ...

Re: "Sequester" impact for Isle Royale
I recall years again. Boaters were an issue with dock partying down in those areas when a ranger weren't posted at Malone Bay.
Just a thought.

Re: Bushwacking From Lookout Louise to Blake Point
Perhaps. But it's also good to leave some areas of the island without trails and therefore less used. It gives you and me and others the opportunity to explore different places of the island that the average person would never consider venturing into because of the lack of a trail.

Re: Bushwacking From Lookout Louise to Blake Point
Slow going. Once with full pack as we were on the way to Lane Cove. Left packs have way there and picked them up on the way back. Consider 4 ish miles at a mile in an hour to a mile and a half an hour. Then there was lunch at the end and breaks to exp;ore crevices and craigs of rock. Wear long pants ...

Re: Bushwacking From Lookout Louise to Blake Point
I've bushwacked to Blake Point and back twice. There are areas of barerock sidehills interspersed along the continuation of the greenstone ridge out to Blake Point. Start at the Lookout Louise and Greenstone Ridge Trail junction on the portage trail Tobin Harbor to Duncan Bay. Stay for the most part ...
