Windigo cabin reservations... grrrr
Did I miss a significant change in booking Windigo cabins? Called in today to book- as before 2 January was the first day to book- to find no availability. First agent said they hadn't been released yet (called right at 9am AZ time); called back a few hours later and a different agent said Windigo ...

Re: Windigo cabin avail 10 August
Bumping thread; just back from our annual pilgrimage, and according to the very friendly Windigo store folks the cabins are free (as in cancelled or no-show by the time the store closes, so whoever reserved wouldn't be able to get the door code...) about 10% of the time. Thus it doesn't hurt to ask ...

Anybody else notice the sharp increase 2015-2016? 6,300 more people are listed as visiting; that's a huge variation.

Re: All 2023 reservations are now open!
Lodge and Wendigo Cabins are also open; we scored 4 nights at Wendigo by calling in this morning when unable to book on the web (Rock Harbor lodge rooms did show up), but by this afternoon cabins were selectable online but no availability...

Re: Accessible Camping
You can feel pretty confident that your fellow passengers would go out of their way to help with doors, give up more accessible seats, etc. -- Isle Royale attracts good people. ... 2. Regarding staying at Windigo/Washington Creek, I agree -- it would be great to get one of the inexpensive camper ...

Windigo cabin avail 10 August
Gang- one of the Windigo cabins looks like it's avail night of 10 Aug. These had been booked solid. One week late for my trip but perhaps someone on the forum can snatch it up?

Re: Update on IR water conditions
Dry That's my update from hiking Wash Creek-N Desor-Little Todd-S Desor-Wash creek Most beaver ponds are down at least 2 feet, rare to see water flowing out of them. Planked areas are even a mix of muddy and dry. Areas were we'd have obtained water in years past aren't showing anything. Water at S ...

I love that the beer is the most geographically economical item on the menu. Way to go NPS and Forever Resorts!

Thread bump.
Heading up this weekend, so I guess I'll find out soon enough, but did they finish it? What'd they do with the old structure (which apparently dates to the 1890s, in parts.)

Re: Grand Portage Boat Lines accepting reservations for 2021
Data point: booked for late July/early August and VII was fully booked across our days of potential travel. Fortunately SHII was available, but this mirrors what has been said about BWCA bookings- significant increase from years past.

Re: Late June Conditions
(Supposing the sun is out) you should be prepared for many, many hours of daylight in late june---it gets light well before 6 and stays that way until well after 10. So bring something (ideally not a DEET-soaked buff) that serves as a sleeping mask! We *always* bring our eyeshades/masks and ...

Re: Daisy Farm concrete foundations
From what I've read, an even larger camp was first erected somewhere near Siskiwit Bay: The CCC camp was about 200m inland from the SW corner of Siskiwit Bay, which is quite a ways from Long Point. The Feldtman Ridge trail skirts the edge of the old camp area, and there are a few remnants scattered ...

Re: First Timer perhaps 1st week of June 2019
Wildcat- congrats on your plans to join the IR family and I wish you the best on this trip! You asked for input so here's my $0.02: Ditto on getting some decent shore time vs. running the length of the island. I'd suggest the Feldtmann Loop for the Rainbow Cove sunsets and the Morning Moose ...
