I just got back from 7 days on IR. The bugs were completely manageable - the only flies that were a problem were at Scoville Point, and even then if you kept moving it wasn't an issue. I stayed in RH, Daisy Farm, McCargoe Cove, and Mosky Basin and had no issues.

i was on the island around this time last year and had georgious, bug free weather, till the last day. then rain
there was snow in the air a few weeks later. im heading up at the end of the month and will carring an extra layer this year just in case its cold and/or wet.

Blueberries and raspberries could be found, but thimbleberries were still a week or two out depending on where you were on the island. I think we picked two or three, and those were still early. I will say that from what I could see, it will be a bumper crop...
