Re: PERMETHRIN

I have treated my stuff for years. I do it in the garage and make sure the clothes dry completely before bagging them and taking them inside. I use a lot of care since we have two cats. Another option is to send your clothes out for treatment http://www.insectshield.com/ProductISYOC.aspx?ProductId ...

Re: August Trip Plans

I did Little Todd to Wash Creek in a long wet day ....was going to Huginnin but decided a shelter at WC sounded like more fun since it had been POURING all day Very doable....but then again, my first day I went from Windigio to Sikskiwitt :-) When I hike solo I tend to just go until I feel like ...

Re: What are you spending your REI dividend on? 2016 Edition

I got some socks......I buy less and less at REI every year....I am surprised they have not sent out a search party to look for me :-)

Re: Hammocks Inside of Shelters

"Damage" is a relative term....There is leaving a mark and there is degrading the structure.I am quite certain I have damaged the shelters with my head....but you would be hard pressed to tell where :-) The "dents" that you would make to insure a clamp holding would certainly do no more damage than ...

Re: Hammocks Inside of Shelters

You might want to ask the original poster....you know....since they asked about INSIDE the shelter

In fact, I was trying to think of a good way to add a small 'point" to the pads on the clamp to help with holding power :-)

Re: Hammocks Inside of Shelters

A couple of sturdy c-clamps should work....put something soft on the floor below you the first time :-)

Re: Stomach bug after trip

In general, giardia is much less likely than simple wilderness hygiene issues. No sinks in the outhouses :-)

But neither seems likely to occur after this many weeks....Giardia symptoms generally manifest within a couple weeks....

Just got back Thursday. There were some black flies at Little Todd but they were merely annoying....no biting

On Friday the 18th I made my way to Grand Portage, MN. The 9.5 hour drive was uneventfulother than stops for gas and a stop in Grand Marias for a pizza from Sven and Ole’s. I arrived at the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino around 4pm after quickly scouting the way to the dock so I would not have to h ...

Re: Sleeping bag decision

Took the Hydrogen and I was just fine. I probably could have stuck with my lighter weight underwear but it was nice to have for the morning/evening. Only zipped my bag up all the way one night and never tightened the hood. Great trip...will post a TR soon. thanks to everyone for their advice....I ...
