I read in a book a before my first (and thus far only) trip to I. R. that there was a trout or salmon that was unique to the inland waters of I.R. I can't remember what the name of the fish was, and more importantly, I can't remember the name of the lake is was supposed to be found in. I'm assuming ...

When I was there last we filtered (no chem treatments or boiling) 2 quarts of water from a clear inland lake about 1 mile downhill from Mt. Franklin. We used my Sawyer mini filter. After the fact, I was curious of anybody has ever heard about higher levels on bacteria in water that beavers take up r...

TR: New to forum, just got back from my 1st trip to IR, Sept. 2016

My wife and I just returned (a week ago) from our first trip to IR. Our honeymoon. Definitely won't be my last. Planning a through hike next year around the same time with a buddy of mine. The Mrs. isn't interested in backpacking sans toilet, so I'll rough it with a my buddy. Such or gorgeous place....
