Re: Pre-Taping Feet?

I do for exceptionally long trips. Especially when we did the crucible (22miles in one short day). I use luekotape and never get blisters when I do it.

Re: Returning to IR, by seaplane?

We’ve only had excellent experiences with them. Will continue to use them in the future.

Re: Senter Point - May 2023

We were fortunate enough to see it a couple years back when they were there working on it. Very cool find and we enjoyed talking with the workers there.

Re: Post Hike Showers

They are totally worth every penny. You can get a towel and a bar of soap (think like a hotel bar). Return bin is by the laundry.

Re: Feldtmann loop or not

I wouldn’t skip siskiwit for Feltdmann. We spent two days there it was so nice. Big beautiful brand new dock and great swimming. Feltdmann is nice for moose watching and was a pretty site but no swimming. We skipped island mine and went straight to windigo. The loop is definitely worth doing once. Y...

Re: Hiking Boots vs. Hiking Shoes

I’ve exclusively worn trail runners on the island. My husband prefers a hiking shoe. I like the breathability, quick drying, lightweightness of trail runners. My feet feel far less fatigued and are blister free at the end of the day vs wearing boots. I’ve done many long miles (including the ridges) ...

Re: What are you spending your 2022 REI dividend on?

Probably a percolator for car camping trips and a new pair of trail runners. Can’t go wrong with an extra set of darn tough socks too!

Re: Itinerary feedback

Chippewa would be an excellent spot to zero. I definitely enjoyed our one stay there and would do it again. MCC has always been packed when we were there.

Re: 7/12/21-7/18/21 [HIKING](Feldtmann loop)

Day 7: Last morning on the island We woke up early by alarm (gosh I hate setting alarms on the island) so we wouldn't miss our flight out. After hitting the snooze at least once, maybe twice, I rolled out of bed to look for moose while Matt headed up to use the "luxery bathrooms". haha. Th...

Re: 7/12/21-7/18/21 [HIKING](Feldtmann loop)

This whole trip report has been wonderful, but I'm especially excited to see your notes about your paddling. Was the paddle out to Beaver Island worth dealing with the boat traffic? A couple months I asked a question about this elsewhere on the forum because I'm planning to rent a kayak for a half ...
