I've been using it at home daily since I bought it. Makes fantastic coffee.
I took it on a scout camp out a few weeks back. It had the additional challenge of sub-zero temps, which lead to frozen stir stick and frozen filters. The coffee was still good.

Re: What are you spending your 2023 REI dividend on?
Looking for ways to improve my trail coffee, I bought an aeropress go. It makes great coffee, but I have yet to test it in the field.

Re: West end spring trip
I used trail runners during my trip last May (and my trip prior to that). The Rock Harbor Trail was especially swamped, almost a stream in some cases! My feet were soaked each day, but the shoes dry out reasonably well. I had an extra pair of hiking socks so I could alternate day to day and dry camp ...

Re: Itinerary help June trip with teenager
I did Moskey to Lane Cove last year. It is a long hike, but there are several nice stops along the way you could enjoy an extended rest at (Ojibway Fire Tower, Mt. Franklin Overlook). You'll get a nice sampling of all the island terrain during this hike as well. I also enjoyed watching the Ojibway ...

Early/Late Season Fuel Availability - 2022
I didn't see any other posts on this, but for other early/late season seaplane folks it appears the stores at both ends will sell isobutane & white gas starting 5/22, even if the rest of the store isn't open yet. https://www.isleroyaleseaplanes.com/about-8 I had been planning on using my twig stove ...

Re: Feldtmann loop or not
The full loop is very nice. I found Siskiwit Bay to be a beautiful campground with Lake Superior fishing and swimming opportunities. The beach hike north out of Siskiwit towards Island Mine is wonderful. When I did the loop I didn’t stay at Island Mine and just continued to Windigo. It is a longer d ...

Re: Cancellation Plans...
Thanks for all these suggestions. Hopefully I won't need to use them! The Porcupine Mountains State Park looks like a perfect backup plan should my flight not work out. I'll be back in da yoop later this summer for our family vacation and we'll be spending time at Copper Harbor and Pictured Rocks ...

Cancellation Plans...
I am taking the seaplane over for a short trip this May. My vacation time is quite short and if my flight to the island gets cancelled, or pushed beyond my current departure date, I'd like to have backup plans in and around Keweenaw/Houghton area. I'd love to have this group's suggestions on ...

Re: Windigo side new gift shop/restaurant
I do have fond memories of meeting and talking "trail" with other hikers right after we finished the minong on that deck. Hopefully it has a similar atmosphere. I do love the charm of windigo. Thanks for all the replies. I guess we will all find out very soon! Starting the countdown to our next ...

Re: Seaplane Times & Capacity...
Thanks. I also received a quick response from Isle Royale Seaplanes. They have 3 aircraft ranging in capacity from 4-7 (dependent on weight). The latest flight out of Hancock is 4pm.
