Re: May 5 Voyageur II Pushed to 12th

Porcupine Mountains or Pictured Rocks could be other options for you in the UP. You'll still get the great water views. The North Country Scenic trail runs through Pictured Rocks for 42 miles all along Lake Superior.

Scoville Point Loop part of the best 100 miles in the NPS

I thought this was pretty cool. Backpacker Magazine has the Scoville Point Loop on their list of top 100 miles (of trail) in the National Park system. https://www.backpacker.com/trips/best-100-miles-scoville-point-loop-isle-royale-national-park-mi We added it on to our itinerary after seeing that! Re: Vegetation on Island in Early June?

Thank you for your help everyone. I emailed the lady who was the contact for the Botany Workshop and she suggested shifting our dates further by a week so that is what we will be doing.

Vegetation on Island in Early June?

We are planning to go to the island May 31st through June 4th and were curious if the deciduous trees are usually leafed out by then. I know a lot of that would depend on the weather. I have also heard the wildflowers are the best in June. Would we be too early in June to see them?

Thanks!

Re: What national parks haven't you visited, but would like to?

I would love to go to any/all of the ones in Alaska, Acadia in Maine, Voyageurs in Minnesota, the three in WA, and perhaps one in Hawaii. I have always been more drawn to the woodsy/northern areas but it would be great to go to some in the SW for the contrast. We went to Redwoods and Crater Lake las...

Re: Vegan Backpacking Food

Backpackers Pantry is another brand that offers vegan. We had a Thai noodle meal that was pretty tasty.

Busyness of Island in Early June/Itinerary

We are planning our first trip to Isle Royale the first full week of June (not sure on exact dates yet). What should we expect as far as running into people this time of year? We are hoping to get as much peace and quiet as we can. For people that have gone in early June: would you frequently run in...
