Re: Decent instant coffee
If you have ever watched Shugemery's videos on YouTube, he is a huge fan of Medaglia D'oro instant coffee, so when I saw it at my regular old local grocery store, I picked up a jar of it. It is actually really good- he wasn't kidding haha. It doesn't come in little packets (at least that I have seen ...

Hello all! I’m not much of a poster or a writer, but since many of you can’t make it to the island this year, I feel it’s my duty to give you an overly detailed account of my recent trip. Bear with me and enjoy History: This is my third trip. A friend and I went in August of 2017 and did the Minong ...

Re: Coronavirus Discussion
I e-mailed Isle Royale Seaplanes yesterday just asking if they had any updates on whether trips would be going (we have one scheduled early June). They said they have a meeting planned with Park Management this week and then they will inform customers about whether their trips are going or not ...

Re: Will I need a sleeping bag liner?
My husband and I went the 2nd week of June 2018, and I had a 22 degree sleeping bag. Wore all of my clothing each night (puffy jacket, hats, mitts, pants/leggings, etc) inside my sleeping bag and was still chilly. So it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring the liner. That being said, sounds like you are ...

In regards to your question about Voyageurs National Park boat tour tickets- you can almost always buy them the day of. That being said, if you have a very specific plan and want to guarantee yourself a seat, you can absolutely reserve them ahead of time. I just don't think you'll have any problem ...

Re: August Gear Suggestions
I went in August of 2017: 1. First off, I always feel like the bugs are not as bad on IR as they are on the mainland :) Yes, I would still permethrin everything. I like the Sawyer Picardin spray for bug dope- seems to work well in my opinion. I have never used a head net. 2. In August, it's warm ...

Did the trip you are describing last June with my husband. We did it in 3 nights: started at Windigo, first night at Siskiwit Bay via the Greenstone, 2nd night at Feltdmann Lake, 3rd night at Huginnin, then back to Windigo in the morning to catch our boat back to MN around noon. I understand the ...
