I have used the Sawyer Mini on my 3L bladder in my pack for a number of years. Great for just filling the bladder and drinking on-demand, but slow for filtering water for dinner or coffee. No bug problems, but rain events on the AT had me cooking "indoors" (in my tent) a couple times.

I've had good results with treating clothing with Permethrin, but I keep wondering if it's really enough with July mosquitoes on IR. My son, a good friend and I are planning to hike the Feldtman Loop in a little over a week, and I'm wondering if bug nets are overkill or a necessity.
