Re: Itinerary Critique, Suggestions or General Need-to-know.
That itinerary will work just fine! Nice sites and good mileage, your packs are a bit heavy for my taste but thats all personal preference. I would be happy to look over a gear list if you want to bring that weight down a bit. Regarding your route I would do moskey instead of chicken-bone ...

Itinerary Critique, Suggestions or General Need-to-know.
Hello, My FIance and I are backpacking Isle Royale for our honeymoon here VERY soon, and neither of us have been there. I definitely wouldn't say we are expert backpackers, but we are by no means novices. We generally will do things along the lines of a 10 mile weekend trip in the Manistee NF, and ...

Re: Season Pass
Yep, your receipt for the Season Pass, plus your photo ID, is enough (although as TopCarrot said, things may be more lax this year!). You will need to fill out a backcountry permit when you arrive. Normally this is done with a ranger, but this year I believe you can just fill one out at a kiosk ...

Re: Season Pass
I'm not sure what you're asking, or what you already have. Do you have a national park annual pass and/or Isle Royale season pass? (If yes, then you're all set: Either of those passes cover your entrance fees and those of up to 3 people with you.) Is the "email confirmation/receipt" referring to ...

Re: Crooked Spoon burns in Grand Marais
what does this have to do with isle royale? A lot of folks who go to IR from MN stop in Grand Marais on the way up or on the way home. This is one of the places you looked forward to after eating "trail food". Eating at these places becomes a part of the trip. Part of the IR experience. isn't that ...

Re: General Info on MV Sandy
Is a 16 foot rental boat a realistic option(if price isn't a factor) for two people wanting to just camp around Rock Harbor - Moskey basing for a few nights?

Re: General Info on MV Sandy
Thanks for the info Midwest Ed! I'm having trouble finding info on anything other than the Sandy. How should I go about reserving a water taxi service? Just call the island in May?

General Info on MV Sandy
If we are flying in, EDT from Hancock at 1pm. How concerned do I need to be about making it to Chip Harbor via the WT that day? Staying there.
Does the WT run on a set "route" or schedule, or is it purely reservation based?
Thanks
