Re: Greenstone Itinerary Feedback
Thanks for that, Torpified! You’re right - it’s so nice to have the flexibility to decide what to do in the moment. Do you have any particular favorite (or least favorite) campsites? Maybe that will determine how far I push each day!

Yes! Thank you for the reminder! I always have one in my hip belt pocket but forgot to add it to the gear list. It’s a life saver for sure.

Re: May mud, mosquitos & trail conditions
Thanks for your input, John! I’ll keep an eye on the weather to see how the winter/spring shakes out. I can handle a lot, but nothing drains my morale like a swarm of mosquitoes haha

How sad! Is this a potential hazard for backpackers, too?

Thank you so much for your response and input dcclark!!
The link you shared is incredibly helpful.
This may be overkill - but would you recommend micro spikes in early-to-mid May?

May mud, mosquitos & trail conditions
Hey friends!
I plan to hike the GRT this year. I was thinking mid-May to avoid the crowds and (hopefully!) the start of mosquito season. My questions for you are:
1. How muddy is the trail in May? I don't mind some mud, but are we talking "sink up to your ankle and suck off your boot" mud?
