Re: How much should you assist other hikers on their plans?

"ambitious" agendas Haha On our first trip, the ranger wrote overly ambitious on the permit. I wasn’t part of the planning and just knew I only had to out hike at least one group member. But she was right. Oops. Only lost one toenail. This situation, they would have had to hike at least 5...

Water filter setup upgrade

I try to make an upgrade to my gear after each trip. This summer there was much complaining on our water setup for a five-some. So I went out and bought a silicone gravity bag. It scopes water quick, holds a gallon and half, and attached right to the Sawyer filter barb fitting. It was super sweet. C...

Visual update of the bloom on 9/10. Richie looked fine, chickenbone looked like green paint. 🤮🤢

Re: Algae bloom at Richie, Chickenbone and Intermediate and Livermore

Any suggested books, articles about algal blooms. I'm considering another hike from McCargoe to Chippewa Harbor (hopefully) next year. I might have to hike directly from McCargoe again, to Chippewa Harbor. Especially, if I can't get water along the way. I'm curious about could the water be used ear...

How much should you assist other hikers on their plans?

Policy question. How much should you assist other hikers on their plans? We bumped into another group and when I asked about the destination for the day it was crazy aggressive. I clarified and it wasn’t the trips destination, it was by that night. I didn’t counter with any verbal opinion but I am s...

Re: Horne Fire

In case people haven't seen this pic. To me, not as bad as all the smoke suggested. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51400884103_c3df84b3cb_b.jpg I kind of thought the same thing. It must be hard to guess from the pictures. The night ones look horrible. We got a good rain tonight. After 7.5 inch...

Re: 9/1-9/5 Windigo to RH Itinerary Help

The trail down to hatchet is nice. The trail up is the workload. If the bloom is cleared maybe but chicken nine is a more active campground and the last two miles into moskey are super easy so that day of only six would be really short. I did Desor to moskey in one day which makes anything else seem...

Scheduling Seaplane

I am setting my September hike and called to check for availability as I have before. They said just book it and they will get back in a few weeks with a confirmation if it works. I placed the order 7/26. How has scheduling been working out for everyone else?
