Re: Accessible Camping

There is a wheelchair ramp at one outhouse at Daisy Farm. It would be another good site if you took the taxi down and stayed a couple days. 3 mile may be possible but it is more on a hill.

Re: Ranger Fare Increase Proposed

The whole article would not show as I'm not a "subscriber" to the site. A hundred ads did show, however. Could someone copy and paste the proposed increases please The proposed fare changes include: One-Way Adult Fare: $80 (up from $70 in 2022) One-Way Child Fare: $40 (up from $35 in 2022...

Re: 2022 ISRO Attendance

the reporting on their site could use some clarity. 2021 Recreation Visits 25,844 Tent campers 6,450 Backpack Campers 32,128 Misc Campers 11,102 Total overnight stays 59,039 I can't quite get the number to sum. I am assuming the non-recreation visitor number of overnights are not otherwise classifie...

Re: 2022 ISRO Attendance

I guess the campsites could still be more crowded with fewer visitors if each visit stayed for longer trips. They might have a night-stayed report I'll have to check again.

I too was surprised by the winter numbers. I would have guessed a few but nowhere close to that.

2022 ISRO Attendance

I was reviewing the attendance data for 2022 and was a little surprised and quite frankly excited that the attendance at the park has been down year over year from 2021. And with the Queen missing the end of the season, I would expect the final year tally to be the lowest for a full year since 2015....

Re: Minong Ridge Navigation with a Garmin

So, I'm back from my trip and working on a trip report. I figured that I'd report my way finding experience here. It seems that on the ridges, the trail follows the same path as it always has. I saw evidence of really old looking blazes painted in red-orange paint on the rocks marking the trail bef...

Re: TR: 9/8-14, 2021 [3M, MB, MC, TH, ND, WC]

In night a heard a moose super close. Neighing and carrying on. I thought maybe it was hurt and couldn’t find a way down the bank into the creek. I nudged Ryan a few times and couldn’t wake him. Then the moose took off running through the brush and clipped the roof of the cabin with a thud. In the m...

Re: TR: 9/8-14, 2021 [3M, MB, MC, TH, ND, WC]

I didn’t realize I had never finished this trip report. It will be a little fuzzier having been a year late. The next day we headed out for little Todd and hopefully on to North desor. Great hike. Left our packs at the junction and waked down to little Todd and had lunch. Fun little site. But if the...

That's a dramatic drop in moose numbers! I look forward to reading the Winter Study report, when it's published.
Here it is.

2022 Wolf Moose study

I hadn’t seen this posted yet. I just found the wolf research from last winter. Here is a good summary. https://www.boreal.org/2022/07/19/406183/isle-royale-winter-study-good-year-for-wolves-tough-one-for-moose Here is the full research, if you’re a real nerd like me. https://www.frontiersin.org/art...

Noon updates. 11 acres no cause determined yet.
All campsites are open and the trails along Superior. Seems promising
