Re: Rain pant recommendations

I splurged and got some Mountain Hardware Gore Tex and absolutely love them. Have used them from Isle Royale, 100 Mile Wilderness in Maine, even used them last spring on a 10 day raft trip down the Colorado River/Grand Canyon, to keep dry in mornings in the shade of canyon when hitting rapids, kept ...

Re: water taxi rates

Re: water taxi rates

you have some good points about being able to visit Edison, Rock Harbor Light and Caribou, the light would be a great place for some Milky Way shots with the tower in the foreground. Not sure though how comfortable I would be trucking across Rock in middle of night.I suppose if weather is nice it sh...

Re: June Trip

Thanks , this was up by Mitchel Peak. Thunder Bay should not be a problem with the heart or Galactic Center of Milky Way in the SE-S direction, although the loom of light from Las Vegas at over 100 miles in photo from Death Valley worked in this panorama.

No real backup plan, just will hunker down were ever I am at. I have seldom run into weather problems that time of the year, but am always aware #$%^ happens, I have run into problems over the years of Voyageur breaking down, not a lot but it has happened. A big concern is cloudy nights, with Milky ...

Re: Need Advice; Planning a 5 night traverse

You sound like you are doing your research so I am sure you aware of group camping regs., if 10 or more, divide into two groups with completely separate itineraries. Unfortunately my worst night on IR had nothing to do with weather but with two groups of scouts that met up for last night at Chippewa...
