Bag in August?

We'll be on the Island August 9 - 16.
I'v been tinking about ditching my summer bag and taking my liner only.
I have an REI Nooksack, 31oz, stuffs to 7" x 15".
My liner is Cocoon cool-max, 9oz, 3.5" x 7".

Any comments regarding my odds of freezing at night in August?

Re: Six Nights in August

That was part of the original plan.
Short to moderate distances.
Er, except for mis-reading the McCargo to Lane Cove, that is.

Re: Six Nights in August

We are thinking of McCargo to Daisy then on to Lane cove.
That 13 miles sounds intimidating.

With an additional night on the island, we are reviewing the entire hike plan.
I'm torn between covering ground and relaxing in the peace and serenity of the island.

Re: Six Nights in August

Keweenaw: Thanks for the reminder. I had read that Lane Cove would be closed. With a "scheduled" re-opening in "mid-July", I was hoping that it would actually be open in mid-august. (This is abnormally optimist of me, I usually figure what will go wrong, will!) I will definitely make sure that it is...

Less:
Yeah, I'm in anticipation mode, too.
And I have 38 days to go.
I keep sorting and re-sorting my gear.
It's diving my wife (not a hiker) nuts.

Fonix:
Hmm. Might be overly ambitious. I forget that "Royale Miles" are super-sized.
I'll review that segment. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe we'll break that one up.

Less Paul:

It looks to me that Mc Cargo is at around 600-650 ft. The Greenstone just east of Chickenbone East is at 931 ft. and climbs as you head east to Mt Ojibway to 1100 ft.

Re: Six Nights in August

Thanks!
niners:
I am considering Moskey instead of Richie.

fonixmunkee:
I agree that the Climb out from (east) Chickenbone is somewhat brutal.
In 2006 we didn't have much down time.
With this itinerary, we can do some exploring & relaxing.

*Seven* Nights in August

My best friend and I are planning our second trip to the island August 9 through 15th. We trekked from Rock Harbor to Windigo along the Greenstone in 2006. This year we are flying into Rock Harbor on Saturday and flying back from Rock Harbor on Friday. That leaves us with Saturday for weather delays...
