Re: TR: July 6-10, 2020 Hiking the Greenstone [RH-LC-McC-SD-WC]
Thanks for the trip report! I'm headed to Lane Cove for the first time this summer, so it's nice to hear fresh info.

Thanks for reporting back! We're headed there soon, after the mosquitoes have retired (fingers crossed).
Zero days are lovely, and I'm glad you found space for one. Chippewa Harbor will be there in the future.

Re: Water treatment
Somewhere along the way, I have read conflicting information on filtering and/or treating water on ISRO. To be on the safe side, at some point I started using Betadine in addition to filtering.

Restore post
I deleted a post for what I thought was a valid reason, and then discovered that the information in the post was in fact correct. Is it in the power of the admins to restore it?

Re: September Weather
I visited in September each of the last two years for about a week each time. Some rain fell--both years on the first night, and nothing worth mentioning the rest of the time.

Re: Ryan Island and Moose Boulder
I was on board with the story right up until they got lost. Did they paddle back to Malone Bay and then intend to hike back to Rock Harbor? Which park ranger's house did they end up finding? Malone Bay? Daisy Farm? It seems like some details that would lend credibility to the story were left out.

It's hard to go wrong with either Malone Bay or Chippewa Harbor.

Re: Greenstone Trip Advice
During what month are you planning to be there? If I had seven days starting at Windigo, and it was my first time backpacking, I might do the Minong, too. It won't kill you, but you'll want to be kinder to yourself. So having spent some time on the island, I'd consider making the Feldtmann Lo...

Re: Delicate question
"Take enough to keep you happy" is excellent advice. That said, for me: Socks: Sleeping socks plus two pairs for hiking. Preferably one pair of hiking socks is washed each evening. Underthings: Wear one and carry one. Preferably the dirty ones gets washed in the evening. In either case, I ...

Re: Hidden Lake > Daisy Farm mileage question
@Bobcat1: It's like you can read my mind. Yes, hiking the entire length of the Greenstone is one of the options this summer. If we do select that option, I'll keep that in mind. The other option we're looking at is the Minong, since my older self will be glad to have done that when I was younger. Do...

Hidden Lake > Daisy Farm mileage question
What is the trail mileage from Hidden Lake to Daisy Farm via the west turnoff to Daisy?
I just loaned my map to someone today and can't answer that question for myself.
Thanks!

Re: What Food Is Best?
For breakfast, I like to eat granola supplemented with nuts and dried fruit, and using full-fat powdered milk. Or I might do overnight steel-cut oats with the same additions. Lunch is usually Kind bars and a piece hard cheese and jerky. Supper is anything that can be purchased at the supermarket and...

Re: Solo Hike
22 days sounds amazing! As mentioned, you won't want to carry 22-day food supply. I did an 18-day trip once for which I made arrangements for two resupply drops. I planned my itinerary around them. The first was brought in by Voyageur II and dropped off at Chippewa Harbor. I mailed the second to mys...
