Re: CONTEST: Pick your favorite IR forums post and win a cal
I received the calendar in the mail today thanks to fonixmunkee. Very nice work Ingo. I especially liked the sunset picture at Todd Harbor (December 2013). I had the pleasure of meeting IncaRoads this past spring, and he's a heck of a deserving guy. (He probably could use a calendar, too! Never ...

Re: Hello and a question
Don - I had the exact opposite experience that you had. On my recent trip in May 2012, I expressed to the rangers that I would like some leeway in the arrival date to one of my backcountry zone campsites, especially if weather delayed me. They were more than happy to oblige and wrote a note of the ...

Re: Hook regulations Isle Royale and DNR issues.
Barbless treble hooks are acceptable. For your informaiton, only the lure on your line needs to be barbless. You can pinch down the barbs on your lures as needed. I myself have started to cut one or two hooks off my trebles to facilitate the quick release of Northerns. Don't forget the jaw spreaders ...

hike early, camp early, and share I totally concur with Ingo. My last 3 trips to Isle Royale have been solo, and have been documented in the "Trip Reports" subforum. All were 6 days and 5 nights, departing on the Voyager II from Grand Portage, MN. The beauty of utilizing the Voyager II is that it ...

Re: Off-Trail Hiking to Hay Bay
Please avoid using fluorescent surveyor tape to mark your route. It is against LNT principles.
Even if your intent is to remove the markers upon the return trip, you will not get all of them.
