I too would not like a strict reservation system. I always plan my itineraries for maximum flexibility, to account for bad weather, minor injury or just a desire to relax an extra day. Certainly, this is your decision and you should know best what works for you. The only caution i offer is that you will, at times, be miles from help and have some very long and painful days should the sandals not work out.
