I slipped into the water, floated out from the shore, dipped my head in the water, and promptly got the worst external brain freeze I've ever...

Re: Water filter recommendation?

The Miniworks requires 2 hands. One hand to hold the barrel of the filter, the other to work the lever like pump arm.
Think of the water pumps at campgrounds.

Re: 2009 Trip Log - Add your planned itinerary here!

Chris, don't be in a hurry to paddle through Wood Lake, some good fishing there. I agree with Ingo, Richie to Belle is a long day. I like Birch Isle, however boaters like it also. Pickerel Cove is nice, I have not camped there, but paddled through a few times. It would be a nice spot to stay. Belle ...

In a former life I guided trips and we (niners and I)tried both the PUR filters and MSR. After a few trips, we decided the MSR Miniworks worked for us. Easy to field maintain and clean an...

Re: What is the Best Route

If you go Washinton Harbor to Malone, you have the wind at your back and there are places to pull out.
The North Side, LTH to Hugginin very few takes outs if the weather gets nasty.
Plus you have meeting us at Malone to look forward to.

Re: How busy is the busy season

Doing the Minong, should not be as "crowded". I hear stories of camp sites doubling and trippling up durin the busy season in the past. With the economy being what it is, I wonder how busy it will be??
