Re: cell phone coverage?

I have never taken my phone over. My view of it is that by having a phone I have gone a long long way to still be tethered to the world. Feels better to me to break that tether while I'm there.

Re: Bug and Trail update

Was there 5/22 to 5/29. No mosquitos. Blackflies had just hatched and were an annoyance at Ritchie canoe but with a headset on, the campsite to ourselves and three days of perfect sunny weather it was hard to complain.

Re: Transporting Boardwalks

We just returned from our trip. We found a couple of these plank drops while we were out there. I suspect they dropped enough for a few years worth of trail work.

Re: June loop feedback

I'd select Option A with the same reservations as above about that Todd Harbor--->Moskey Basin hike. It's doable but it will be quite a long hike and IR has very few flat steps.

Re: Cooking in shelters

Not uncommonly in May or June you get one of those weather patterns where the temp is 43F and its humid and foggy, still, lightly sprinkling, and you have no idea when this pattern will break. It can go on for days. At that point its time to take the cooking in the shelter because everything that ge...

Re: Season Pass

FYI. I just talked to the Houghton visitor center. They told me these IR annual passes ($60) as well as the all-parks pass ($80) can be purchased upon arrival at Windigo or Rock Harbor.

Tom wrote: Thu May 18, 2017 7:45 am I'd personally go with:

1.) Wood Lake
2.) Lake Ritchie Canoe
3.) Intermediate
4.) Whittlesey

I see a bit of a 'class difference' between the first two and the last two.
I agree with this. Though I'd be quite happy spending a week at any of them.

Re: Planned trip 7/3-7/13

The stretch from Little Todd to N. Desor is probably the most difficult stretch of trail on the island. Plan accordingly. I like to do that stretch as a single day but it is doable paired up with the Todd--->Little Todd section you have planned... just challenging as the second half of a good distan...
