Re: Pike fishing and kayaking from RH to McCargoe cove
Welcome to the forum Flyguy! :) Would you attempt this alone? If so I may not recommend it without some big lake experience. That being said if you were so inclined I would stick to as much semiprotected water as possible. Use the portages and islands to your advantage. We like to carry a weather/mari...

Re: Backcountry Zones
I was wondering, is there a restriction on the number of tents allowed per site? This would be off trail or in campsite. I ask because we have 5 people going on our next trip and 4 tents. 2 two man 1 singe and a bivy. I have poured through regs and run a search, but haven' t come up with anything so...

Eastern end bushwacking
I am looking for some info on bushwacking on the eastern end. From what I have seen it is considerably more rugged. What I am looking for in particular is a Bushwack from Lookout Louise to the Duncan bay narrows campsite. That I site is on the main island correct ?It looks like it on the map. I though...

Re: Isle Royale by packraft -- August 27 - September 3, 2013
Redbad, thanks for the info. I find this an interesting way to explore the island. I have mentioned that I hate to portage a boat. This sounds like a good option. Sounds like good durability and decent speed.I know deep water entries and exits are always a lot of fun ;) . I personally can't wait to g...

Re: Feedback on itinerary
Sounds like a good trip! If you are training on the Ice age trail then you should be prepared for the ups and downs. We train on the Langlade and Lincoln sections. Some of those hills get pretty big, 250' on a few of them. 30 lb pack should be good and doable. I would also recomend the tower on the ...

Re: Minong Ridge Trail suggestion?
Hello. It kinda sounds to me that you have it figured out and are sitting on a good solid trip plan.We did the Minong from windigo around the Hugginin loop and up to Daisy farm last year. It was all good ;) .I agree with Midwest ed in the fact that direction is a point of view. Having done the Minong...

A belated thank you for the reply refuge. We did wind up doing this trip in July. The trails were excellent and the terrain we found quite easy. The swimming was the best swimming of the year. We took advantage of the recommendation and broke in my nephews. They were bummed by the short 5 mile days we ...
