Katadyn Water Filter
Anyone have experience with this make of water filter? I just picked it up yesterday as I was using a LifeStraw but it does not pack well. At all. Way to bulky and took up precious real estate in my wife pack. So, we headed for REI and it was same price so the exchange was easy. LifeStraw filtered ....

Re: Bug report: July 19-26
Good to know. Glad I treated my clothing and tent with permethrin. That stuff works wonders. Tried it out this weekend on a shakedown and kept most of the skeeters at bay versus when I was at same site 3 weeks prior I left looking like I had chicken pox. Hopefully some of the cooler air that ...

Spiders
Hey everyone. Been seeing some pics of some gnarly looking spiders on IR. They even looked to be about the palm of my hand. I cant find any info on these guys. I'm not going to say I'm not squirmish of them but I'm definitely not going to tucker into bed with one either. Gosh forbid my wife see's on...

Re: Itinerary August 1-6
Final Itinerary: Hasn't changed much. We've been preparing nearly every minute we haven't been working including multiple shakedown trips to Camp Ely in Allegan, Michigan. A great primitive campground with lots of trails. Nothing compared to IR trails from what I hear but none the less, we've had sh...

Re: A call for the wild - save Isle Royale's wolves
Seems like this guy opened up a few Wikipedia pages, copy and pasted some numbers and submitted it to the freep editor. This story has been written 100 times now it seems and IR will still have tourists with or without wolves! Plain and simple.

I saw this too. His theory was debunked. No conclusive evidence that IR copper was used in the bronze age.

No worries, Tim. I figured you were tied up with things. I'm suppose to meet with him again sometime in September and give him my trip report if you have any interest in coming out then. He has friends and hangs out in my neighborhood a lot. Some of the graphic design work and website for 50 Lakes w...

Re: Holy Guacamole!
Hey Guys, sorry it's been awhile since I've posted. Life gets busy sometimes. Well, last night I met up with George Desort. What a great guy with tons of IR knowledge. We sat and chatted for about 4 hours at a small brewery in my neighborhood. Taked about everything under the sun IR related and abou...

Re: Holy Guacamole!
Rafiki, I'm in the Edgewater/Andersonville neighborhood on the northside next to the lake. Been living here for 2 years and it's been great so far. Where are you at? PM me and i'll give you some details. Meeting up this Thursday, July 3rd. Location hasn't been 100% nailed down but you can definitely...
