I concur with treeplanter.The black blotches are consistent with fungus/ canker. I also have to wonder about a moose trying to remove velvet from its antlers....any shredded bark in the area?

The crews on the V2 are great guys. They will take the best care possible.I hand up my pack and walking stick seperately, no problems.I would recomend a small carry on though.It is a long cruise, and you may want a nibble or a drink.

We just did the bushwack from Malone to chippewa harbor....I wouldn't recomend this area if you are not well skilled in the bush
