Re: First Trip: Hammocks, Huginning Loop, August 2018

Was there last August! I thought it was an easy hike. I'm 47 and on the chunky side so you should find it a great hike. I like the sight off to the east, but you had to look for the trail to get there, it was not obvious. If the water is calm you should be able to walk the beach to it. Sent from my ...

Re: Water sources/Stream in Minong trail

The map is pretty close. I Just finished the Minong last week. If my memory serves me right. McCargo to Todd not much water access. Todd to Little Todd Maybe three streams crossed the trail. Little Todd to N Desor one stream and a beaver dam. N Desor to Windigo, multiple places to find water, three ...

Re: general conditions--July 2017

I just finished my trip. Started at Chippewa Harbor up to McCargo and across the Minong. I had intended on doing the Feldtman, but everyone I talk with, coming off the loop, said how overgrown the trail was, so decided to do it another time. You may want to think about catching the Voyager to McCarg...

Re: Camping overnight at Moskey Basin or McCargoe Cove?

McCargo is great, but Moskey is awesome, in my opinion. I'm starting at Chippewa this year, up to McCargo and then across the Minong. Even going g to check out East chicken bone.

McCargo definitely! Chickenbone is not bad either, but it's not McCargo.

Re: A couple quick questions (toilet paper and showers)

If I remember correctly, last year the shower was $6.00 and it was cold. Not sure about the towel and soap. I hike with a micro fiber towel and always carry soap for washing.

Re: Itinerary Advice-Chippewa Harbor to Rock Harbor

Thanks, Base654! Much appreciated! barb.dobberteen - We'll be there later next week, so our timing is off. However, I'm not sure there would be a price difference. I understood the IR Resorts water taxi to be a per person rate. I don't remember if there was a per person break. Check your price on t...

Re: Aug 2016 itinerary

Thank you! I did make a typo. I'm trying to decide if I should reserve the water taxi back to Rock harbor the day before we leave to go back to Copper Harbor and spend the last night there or reserve the taxi on the same day as we leave back to Copper harbor. Any thoughts?

Alite makes a packable chair that is 1 lb 6 oz called the mayfly. Great chair, but pricey. Very comfortable.
