Re: Itinerary for 1st Time?
How are you planning to get from Rock Harbor to Chippewa Harbor? That is a pretty ambitious hike and while I'd totally do it, I have a feeling many on here will advise against it. So ya, probably don't want to take my advice. I once got lost on the island and hiked 26 miles. The last 15 miles with v...

Re: Chippewa Harbor via Lake Superior by canoe
Tree Rattt....We actually got the gardener kneeling pads to sit on in the boat so I could try to rig them up in such a way to provide extra cushion for my shoulders when carrying the canoe. Lucky Chicken...It looks liked a brilliant idea, but that it would require some ingenuity, which I am not full...

Re: Looking for ideas
I'd say without a doubt, being that you do not have that much time and being that your 9 year old wants to do longer hikes...why not the Feldtmann Loop. Saturday: Windigo to Feldtmann Lake Sunday: Feldtmann Lake to Siskiwit Lake Monday: Siskiwit to Island Mine Tuesday: Island Mine to Windigo The onl...

Re: Wolf-Moose Project Fund Raising - Special Opportunity
So I have an idea. And would this be cheating by the way? Someone post a $60,000 donation. Collect this guys $60,000 matched donation. Give back "someones" $60,000 donation. Used that matched $60,000 donation from the first year towards the following year and collect on another $60,000 dol...

Re: Chippewa Harbor via Lake Superior by canoe
Ya that's the thing. I really want to develop the experience. The trip plan involves checking out the inter lakes that circle around Lake Siskiwit and Chippewa Harbor as well as checking out Lake Siskiwit itself. I'm fine with doing wimpy .6 to .8 mile portages, but once were start talking about 1.8...

Re: Chippewa Harbor via Lake Superior by canoe
Thanks for keeping it real Tree-Ratt. As much as I hate the thought of portaging the trail from Moskey to Lake Richie, if it means coming out alive with my girlfriend, that will be enough for me to break my back...twice too, because we'll have to go back that way. The crazy things love will make you...

Re: My final itinerary for 2014 (I think)
Hey Donk. I love your itinerary. However, that is because I like 10-15 mile days. This is just my perspective. If you want to play it safe, I'd say ditch Lane Cove and shoot straight to Moskey Basin if the plane has you arriving early enough. This will give you an additional rest day if necessary. S...

Hey Zim's rock on man. I hate mosquitoes, just as you do, but I'm sure that is second to your love for the island. So I hope that means you have a fantastic time, which by the sounds of it, you did Love to see the pictures. How would you like to send them if you don't know how to post them here?
