Re: Chippewa Harbor 1890 and in 1991
There is one cabin left. Go to the “Picture of the Week” thread for another view of Chippewa harbor in 1991. You can see the roof of a cabin in the last pic I added.

Re: Submissions for PICTURE OF THE WEEK go here
I've been to Chippewa Harbor several times (kayak) and never noticed the cabin. Looking at one of my old slides, I do see it hidden amongst the trees. Look directly behind the little rock island with the seagull, you'll see the roof of a structure back about 20 feet from the shore. I'm guessing this...

Chippewa Harbor 1890 and in 1991
The 1890 picture of Chippewa Harbor is from an old book I have (The Life of Isle Royale). I took this book along on our first kayak trip to Chip back in 1991. I tried to locate the exact spot where the 1890 photo was taken and came fairly close. Different camera formats (1890 view camera and a 1991 ...

Re: Submissions for PICTURE OF THE WEEK go here
There’s a ridge directly behind the Chippewa Harbor campground. No trail to follow, but just climb up as far as you can and you get this view. This was the hottest weather I’ve ever experienced on the island, it must have been 90 when I took this picture. http://gallery.leica-users.org/d/435938-1/Ch...

Re: Submissions for PICTURE OF THE WEEK go here
There's an old fishing boat that's partially onshore at the far northern end of Chippewa Harbor. No idea how long it's been there.

Re: Submissions for PICTURE OF THE WEEK go here
Since we're in the fall/winter IR doldrums, a pic to get us ready for next season.
I'm not really sure where this is. Someplace in the northeast part of the island.

Re: Submissions for PICTURE OF THE WEEK go here
The "America." I took this about twenty years back while in my kayak. A serendipity photo. I knew I was above the "America" but couldn't clearly see the wreck due the the glare off the water. I stuck my Nikonos under water, pointed it where I though the wreck was, and took this p...

Otter Lake, a few miles west of McCargoe Cove. This lake just appears out of nowhere, when you hike the Minong Ridge west out of McCargoe.

Re: Broken Leg Night Rescue
The person I was referring to in my original post had to be air-lifted to Thunder Bay via helicopter. The rangers told us the person broke their leg.
