Towel and soap can be had for $2.00 (if I remember correctly) in addition to $6.00 token for five minutes. Shower at Rock Harbor was plenty hot in June.
Most of outhouses had TP, especially at CG on Superior...some of the inland sites don't.

Nice write up. Sounds like it was a great trip. Just realized the seaplane relocated from the airport. Do you know when they moved operations?

Re: minong ridge with kids?
The Minong does have some challenges, but feasible for kids who have backpacked before assuming the 12 mile day isn't too many miles. Suitable hammock sites are a challenge to find, especially for multiple hammocks, so if it was me, I'd go with tents. Get an early start on your 12 mile day and know ...

Re: Did anyone catch today's low altitude fly-over by two F-16s up the Rock Harbor Channel?
This might be sour grapes on my part, but I feel IR is a place low flying jets should avoid...I accept the high altitude jets flying over and of course the seaplane, but why intentionally destroy the quiet with stunts?

Re: How's the weather?
First week of June, I was well prepared for the cooler temperatures, but wasn't necessarily ready for the warmer temps found inland. My suggestion is be prepared for temp range between 40 & 80.

Re: Favorite Campsites
Lane Cove is cool, although the last I heard, there's a section of water over the boardwalk. Moskey is my personal favorite. A spectacular sunrise can be witnessed there. Enjoy the trip. Prepare for bugs.

Minong Water Sources
One more question on water... are there any water sources between East Chickenbone and Mt. Franklin. I don't see creek crossings on my map and that's a pretty long dry stretch. I've read getting water at E Chickenbone can be take a lot of effort. Thanks! There is a small stream just southeast of E....

Minong Water Sources
There are a few stream crossings between McCargo and Todd. A few more between Todd and Little Todd. There two weeks ago. Fill up at Little Todd or stream just before the spur to CG, because you the walk a dry ridge all the way to N. Desor CG. After Desor, I filled at the second stream approximately ...

Second time on the Queen and second time crossing in fog with rain starting as we wait to board. The crew thoughtfully stowed our packs below deck in the forward cabin. There was a sizable crowd onboard with half bound for Mott island as some part of a research group. The wait to register with the r...

Chickenbone W. vs. Lake Ritchie
I stayed at W. Chickenbone on my first trip. Had a nice campsite on the lake, but imho, W. C. Isn't anything special. Ritchie has always intrigued me the two times I've hiked through, but coming from Moskey, it was always way too soon to stop. If you're feeling good on the hike from Hatchet, go for ...

Re: Hammock friendly campsites
Did anyone see the new greenstone paper 2017 page 5 hammock rules? Hammocks only in designated campground areas? I was planning on using mine as a comfortable chair during lunch breaks on trail, rest breaks on trail , naps, and chilling at the end of the day. I saw that. I'm just happy they didn't ...

I'll report back after my June trip. I hope to hang as much as possible but will be prepared to go to ground if I have to.

Re: ULA Equipment Backpacks
I also have the aether 70 and plan to purchase a circuit soon. I've test driven an ohm and find it to carry real well...my only complaint is the cinch straps for the hip belt are a bit tricky; two thinner straps versus one wide strap.
