Guess Where?
Alright, this post has two parts to it.
1. Can you be the first to identify where this photo was taken?
2. For those of you who will be visiting Isle Royale (obviously, near this area of the island) this year , if you happen to locate this design, compose something interesting with the "2010" in view and post your photo in this thread.
During our trip my buddy (in the photo) found a bunch of light-colored stones and created a "2010" with them on the ground. I thought it was a pretty neat idea and a cool photo opportunity. Obviously, I cropped out much of the photo in order to make the location identification a little less obvious.

Re: Guess Where?
Hey, whatever happened to "leave no trace?"
ETA: I'm also going to guess that's somewhere near the Siskiwit Bay campground.

Re: Guess Where?
Although we did stay at Siskiwit Bay and it does have rock similar to that, your educated guess is incorrect.
And, seeing as I violated Leave No Trace, I guess I'll just have to make another trip to the island to pick it up. Hmmm, actually, that doesn't sound like a bad idea, especially since I really like that spot.

Re: Guess Where?
Hmm ... if it's not near Siskiwit Bay, I'd guess maybe those are mine tailings. Since it's a bright and sunny shot I'd say not near Island Mine, but perhaps at the mines near McCargo?

Re: Guess Where?
srparr, very good thinking but that's not it either. Although, if I didn't know where this was taken I would probably have thought mine tailings as well.
Jerry is actually correct. Sorry, I don't have any cash prizes or a trip to give away. I guess you just get the satisfaction of being the first person to guess the correct location.
Here's the original, uncropped photo (Rainbow Cove):

Re: Guess Where?
For some reason I remember a ton of rocks at Rainbow Cove, that's why I thought of that location first. You also need to mark where you came out of the trees to make sure you find the trail back to the campgrounds at the lake.
