Food dehydrator recommendations?

Based on some feedback in my other thread, just curious if anyone here has a recommendation for a good food dehydrator? The most recent posts about food dehydration are many years old and just wondering if anyone has gotten on the DIY bandwagon lately.

Thank you in advance!

We have an Excalibur and I absolutely love it. It's a workhorse that handles backpacking meals on the side. It's "real" job is to process things out of the garden and off of our fruit trees. If you're just looking for a way to do backpacking meals, I'd suggest going to Goodwill and finding one for sale for a few bucks. Give it a good cleaning and then go to work.

I have the Cabela's Harvester Pro five tier. It works fine, but a bit noisy. I would buy it again.

I have an Excalibur 5-tray model. I especially like the timer feature as I can set it late at night and it will turn itself off when done.

I've used a Nesco SnackMaster for years. I've done everything in it from fruit to vegetables, to stews, to chow mien, and I love it. Fruit Roll kits and Clean-a-Screens are important for sauces and salsa as well as smaller items. You can really dehydrate almost anything in it and my homemade recipes beat the heck out of freeze dried stuff.

Excalibur is currently having a sale. 15% off anything over $199. They also have a nice 4 tray model in the refurbished section for $89!
