UPDATE: We have confirmed with the local sheriff that there are no posted detours for the closing of US41 at Houghton. But there is a good route to Copper Harbor. At Baraga, take M38 west to M26 and 26 north to Houghton. Or watch for posted detours as conditions change today.

Also, coming from Duluth is problematic. US 2 is closed near Ashland, and additional closures on US 53 and US 63. Just heard from brother who is pretty much stuck near Ashland trying to get to Duluth.

Monday Update: Once again, tremendous flooding in Houghton Co has caused the closure of US41 south of Houghton. But everyone is getting through to Copper Harbor. Take M38 west from Baraga to M26 and then up to Houghton. Or take US41 to Chassell and take the Painesdale Rd northwest to Dodgeville. Turn right and on to Houghton. Add an hour to travel time.

I think the seaplane dock access in Ripley might still in question. Their website offers no updates but this map shows all of the total and partial road closures thus far. State highway M26 shows as washed out on both sides of the seaplane dock. Walking is probably an option but you should call as they just might be temporarily moving to another location. I too saw US 41 at the Pilgrim River was open again but with just one lane of traffic.
