Luggage on Isle Royale Queen IV

Questions about how to get to the island and where to stay near points of departure.

Luggage on Isle Royale Queen IV

Post by Blooms2 »

We are planning our first trip in early June and traveling on the Queen IV. Two quick questions - one, once are bags go on top, are they exposed to the weather (possible rain or lake waves)? Two, are we allowed to take our day packs on board with us or do they have to go on top (18-24L packs, not too big)? Thanks!

In the past they would put packs down below. If you are worried about clothing in luggage, put it in plastic bags (even if your bags/luggage is waterproof). You can take a day pack on with you.

A few years ago, we had to go back and pick up a canoe in the middle of Lake Superior (high waves that day).

Never heard of that happening before. Had to be interesting watching them get a water filled canoe out of the rough lake and onto the top.
