Yeah I'm with you. I bring a pair of North Face down insulated slippers. The soles have grippy stuff on them and there is a thick foam pad built in the sole. If you wanted more protection you could add an insole as LeftOvers suggested. Very lightweight for backpacking too, 7.8oz. for the pair.I'm surprised no one's mentioned insulated booties. I've taken a pair on every trip, backpacking or just camping. Most of my camping is in the spring or the fall and it just feels great to have warm feet, out of my boots, at the end of the day.
