I am looking at investing in a new canoe seat for this springs trip. I have previously used a Crazy Creek fold out one that was basically canvas covered foam with straps to support the back. Anyway, it provided very little back support and tended to provide none when doing strong paddling in heavy waves.
I am looking this one by CGI from Campmor:

(Gander Mtn and others have something similar)
Then, on the high price end, there is this one from backcountry.com:

For this upcoming trip, weight is not important, but it is something I need to consider for future long portages.
Anyone have any opinions or, used something similar to the first one??
Thanks in advance!

Re: Canoe Seat Opinions
Personally I've never used a seat back, and never felt the need for one. In heavy waves and/or hard paddling, I'm probably kneeling anyways. But the original seat itself makes a huge difference--hate anything molded, plastic or aluminum. Wood frame (usually ash) with caning is the best, nylon webbing is more durable, but slightly less comfortable IMO. If you don't have wood seats, I'd invest in them first.
