As I said with all the earnest eye contact I could muster, " We're at the mercy of the boat schedule, dear. We'll make the best of it."

For what it is worth, my wife doesn't like hiking. So, when my wife comes along on the trip--she stays on the North Shore for a few days and enjoys herself while I hike on Isle Royale and enjoy myself. We also spend days together on the North Shore before and after my time on the Island. All of the advice given by others seems to be "spot on". Depending upon my mood, I would PROBABLY pick Lake Ritchie (for the privacy and lack of boat traffic). I would pick Moskey (if I wanted a shelter and if I thought that I had a chance of getting one).
