Kayakers rescued from L Michigan

Post by johnhens »

Every Spring, somewhere on the great lakes, often multiple times in different locales, folks will paddle on the Great Lakes without the proper equipment. These folks were lucky, the outcome could have been tragic.

You have to be careful this time of the year.

The ice went out last Wednesday on a small, inland lake near me, and I had my boat in the water on Friday. The water temp was probably 34 degrees and I was paddling around a few ice flows in spots. Luckily the air temp was about 60. It was great to paddling again. Probably the first time since last September.
